Every hotel, motel, and B&B within a 50 km radius — including in Trois-Rivières, Shawinigan, and even Québec City — sells out months in advance. Secure your room by March at the latest, or consider booking a chalet in the Mauricie region. Many visitors commute daily from Trois-Rivières (45 min drive), which offers the closest major hotel inventory.

By late morning, the two-lane roads leading into Saint-Tite become parking lots. Vehicles queue for kilometres on Route 153 and Route 363, especially on weekends. Plan to arrive before 10:00 a.m. if you want a stress-free entry and a decent parking spot near the grounds. The early bird also catches shorter lines at the rodeo ticket booth and souvenir stalls before the midday surge.

The festival publishes a dedicated mobile app each year with rodeo schedules, programming updates, interactive maps, and useful festival information. Cell reception can be spotty when hundreds of thousands of people crowd the same cell towers, so download the app and relevant maps to your phone while on Wi-Fi before you leave home. The Estrades Coors Original grandstand sells out for headline rodeo sessions — especially the Saturday and Sunday performances. Do not assume you can walk up and buy a seat. ATM machines on-site run out of bills by Saturday afternoon and charge steep fees. With dust, walking, and the excitement of the rodeo, dehydration creeps up fast. Carry a refillable water bottle — the festival provides free water refill stations near the information kiosks and first-aid tents. Alcohol is widely available, but pace yourself: one water for every alcoholic drink keeps the headache away.

The festival's outdoor stages host country and dance programming throughout the evenings, drawing both Québécois and Canadian artists. Check the nightly programming schedule as soon as it drops — popular acts attract huge crowds, and the best viewing spots fill up well before showtime. Bring a camping chair or blanket for the grass areas if you want a comfortable vantage point.

Over 10 days, Saint-Tite's population multiplies by roughly 175. Residents open their lawns for parking, their basements for lodging, and their streets for festivities. Be a courteous guest: keep noise down in residential areas after midnight, dispose of trash in the designated bins (which overflow quickly — use the eco-stations), and thank the volunteers who run the entire event.
